Counsel, Naval Sea Systems Command
Sophie A. Krasik
Ms. Krasik has served as Counsel, Naval Sea Systems Command since
August, 2010.
Prior to that time, Ms. Krasik served from 2006 through 2010 as the Associate General
Counsel (Management) for the Department of the Navy, Office of the General Counsel.
From 1996 through 2006, Ms. Krasik served as the Assistant General Counsel (Research,
Development & Acquisition), the senior acquisition attorney position in the Department.
Ms. Krasik’s other assignments have included Counsel and Deputy Counsel, Space and
Naval Warfare Systems Command; Counsel, Office of Naval Research; and Associate
Counsel, Naval Supply Systems Command. Ms. Krasik began her legal career with the
Department in 1980, in the Office of Counsel, NAVSEA.
Ms. Krasik graduated from Harvard College in 1970 and Harvard Law School in 1974,
both cum laude. At college, Ms. Krasik was a National Merit Scholar and received
a scholarship from the Newspaper Fund. She also served on the staff of the Harvard
Crimson.
The General Counsel appointed Ms. Krasik to the Senior Executive Service in June
1990. She has been awarded the rank of Meritorious Executive with in the Senior
Executive Service (1998, 2003, and 2008) and has received the Department of the
Navy Distinguished and Superior Civilian Service Awards. She is a member of the
Bars of Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia.
